Kathy’s Tips – Standing Posture

Improve your Posture while working on a Stand up Desk

Kathy Howell PT, OCS, CFMT has over 25 years of experience as a physical therapist and uses a combination of manual therapy, exercise prescription, movement analysis and education in body mechanics to help her patients achieve their goals.  She is an Orthopedic Certified Specialist nationally and she is a Certified Functional Manual Therapist from the Institute of Physical Art.  In this video, Kathy goes over the basics for achieving correct standing posture while at your desk at home or at work.  She stresses that the healthiest body is a body in movement and for that reason, standing at work is optimal.  In standing, a person should have feet placed hip distance apart, soft knees, neutral pelvis, the rib cage seated over the pelvis, the shoulders back and the chin gently tucked to pull the head directly over the body.  Watch this video for a demonstration of how it can be done.  If you have any questions for Kathy or are interested in an appointment with her, you can contact her directly.
